On August 6, 2025, Kisumu’s Victoria Comfort Inn played host to a truly interactive and insightful session, as Dr. Lynette Odidi of Optimum Life Choices led a powerful dialogue on “Communication” with members of KISWA Alliance, a Kisumu-based feminist organization advocating for Feminist rights

A Session That Blended Learning with Play Participants didn’t just listen. They expressed, created, and moved. The gathering featured:

Energetic dance sessions to loosen spirits and foster connection
Partner drawing, encouraging trust and non-verbal communication
Group "mushroom" drawing nurturing creative expression as a tool for shared understanding
Coloured paper picking, prompting participants to choose colors that reflected their mood
Outdoor activities empowering attendees through fresh air, movement, and relaxed interaction
Each activity was intentionally designed to break communication barriers and cultivate community core to KISWA’s spirit and mission.

Why the Topic Matters?
Effective communication isn’t just about speaking it’s about being heard, understood, and connected. For KISWA members whose voices are often marginalized. This session provided both symbolic and practical tools: creative exercises, group dynamics, and mindful interaction that help encourage authentic expression.
Optimum Life Choices, led by Dr. Odidi is grounded in psychological empowerment. As a collective of mental health professionals collaborating with the Psychological Society of Kenya, the organization promotes emotional wellbeing through dynamic, evidence-based interventions that include workshops, counselling, and community-based education
Through the “Dancing Brain” initiative, they harness movement, creativity, and expressive tools to foster mental resilience, highlighted in Monday’s session’s colourful, body-centered approach.
