Counseling is Important

Counseling is one of the hardest jobs anyone can ever do, yet once there you will always be there. Some people believe that counseling is about talking, others think you will perform miracles and make the pain go away, yet others think you read minds. The few people who come for counseling do so with mixed feelings. They have some biases and try to justify this by watching you keenly and not letting themselves go. Some tell you half-truths while others lie about what the problem is.

Dealing with younger people is more challenging. A parent will bring a child, tell you what they want you to tell the child, once the truth comes out the very same parent does not want to hear what his/her contribution is to the problem. They tell you things like 'he/she is the problem, deal with him/her'. The same also goes to counseling a spouse. The other spouse hardly agrees to attend sessions which makes therapy difficult.
